Nearing the end of his forty day road trip in wester Canada, Daniel was given the opportunity to swing by Vernon, BC and tour one of province’s foremost resort bike parks, Silver Star. Bike Park Director Cameron Sorensen was kind enough to take a few hours out of a very busy day to show Daniel some of highlights that Silver Star is offering this year as well as give him an overview of all the various "styles" that ST offers.
While certainly one of the more fun aspects of the job, the purpose wasn’t simply to get on big bikes and shred a mountain. It was more to see where the bike park fits in relation to many of the other resort bike parks offerings in the country and whether or not ST / Vernon were at a stage to apply for IMBA’s most recent designation, that of a "Ride Center". IMBA Canada is currently working with a couple of locations with the goal of having at least two designation for 2012 and more the follow in 2013. "Big thank you’s to Capilano University MBO graduate and current Silver Star trail crew Chris Brown for initiating the visit, to Cameron Sorensen for taking time out just before NSMB’s AIRprentice event went down and to the staff of Silver Star Resort for making it a fun, memorable visit – the trails were awesome, weather superb and the Norco Aurum 2 that they hooked me up was money right outta the rental shop, awesome bike!" – Daniel
