After a couple of months away from most things trail building related, we loaded up our trusted Subaru with our new Trek bikes and hit the road. Our plan was to avoid as much of winter as possible and visit trails in areas along the way.
We stopped to hike in Olympic National Forest in Washington and at Cape Lookout State Park in Oregon. We got in some early season riding in Astoria, Oregon, in Redwoods National Park and at Folsom Lake in Sacramento,California. We spent a few days wandering in the giant redwoods in Northern California which dwarf many of the large trees on the West Coast.
As we made our way East we stopped in to see the IMBA folks in the Boulder, Colorado office and got the opportunity to ride at the Golden bike park. We didn’t quite elude winter. We shivered through Nebraska and all the way to Michigan and were welcomed back in to Canada with a fresh snowfall. The trip from our home in Victoria, BC to head office in Kitchener, Ontario was a great way to ease back into life on the road and we’re both excited to get back to the nitty gritty life of Trail Care Crew.
