Williams Lake was the host city for the 2015 MTB Tourism Symposium held Oct. 02-04. This is the third instalment since the Mountain Bike Tourism Association began organizing these summits of First Nations, land managers, tourism operators, bike clubs and advocates for the sport. One hundred and fifty delegates convened for a wide variety of workshops and keynote speeches over the three days.
Williams Lake is also a rider’s paradise with trails for every level and lots of them as many took in the offerings guided by local shops and club members. Of course no good day is complete without a bevy, some great food and lots of good conversation.
Lora Woolner gave an ardent presentation to the Sunday morning delegates regarding IMBA Canada’s restructuring and legal separation from IMBA USA. We do recognize there has been a void since most of the Canadian staff were furloughed two years ago. However, we are diligently working on a plan to rebuild our relevance to the riding community. Look for some big changes to come in the near future.
