IMBA Canada’s Daniel Scott conducted the Ecologically Sustainable Trails Course at Fleming College last weekend, teaching students about the protocols, theories, best practices and more that pertain to making sure trails are not only fun but easy on our critical ecosystems.
Part of Fleming College’s Sustainable Trails Certificate, this course was focused on how ecology interacts with recreation. The curriculum tackled everything from federal and provincial legislation to design and construction to assessment and remediation.
It was a stellar two days of lecturing, discussion and field walks with a highly diverse class of students who were all eager to learn and contribute. Well done to everyone in attendance!
